Shara's philosophy is based on years of working with children, education courses and hands-on experience. She loves watching the impact and results of creating toys and books using personal photos that really draw children in and get a reaction. There are numerous other sites – where you just download a pre-made story and there are blanks on the page where you can fill in your own child’s name and some other content to personalize it. But the books are just printed and stapled together; not actually bound or individualized. I have ordered a name and counting book for my son incorporating his rich heritage. Numbers were written in English, Italian and Farsi. What I particularly liked was that the text/content was well thought out. I will also recommend that my clients consider this valuable product and incorporate it into psycho-educational sessions. For example using this medium to describe the devastating affects of bullying, how to manage anxiety or how to deal with divorce or illness. With PCS books, teachers and educators can send photos to PCS, order a custom book completely designed for ONE child – to address any behavior and/or emotional issue whether it be sensory issues, bullying, hitting, biting, communication barriers, social challenges, etc. Wonderful, useful product and great customer care! I absolutely looove it!!! Oh my goodness, I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book!! I read it three times!! My husband loved it as well. I cannot imagine how much my son will love this book if we love it so much. We love the story line, thank you!! This is a gift my son will truly enjoy for a lifetime! I was in tears after Rozie read your book. After she read it she came over to me, hugged me and said in an uncharacteristically grown up voice, "Thank you so very much. I always wanted something like that. It's very important to me. Now, I can see mommy whenever I want to. Thank you so very much." She had tears in her eyes and hugged me so tightly - repeating over and over, "Thank you so very much."
Wow - what a gift you gave to that little girl. She has read it over and over, tears of joy on her little face as she'd point out details in the pictures and read. She loved the poems you wrote.

I have to tell you, I sat my son on my lap and put him in front of the computer to see the prototype. My husband and I read it to him from our laptop and he loved it and he never sits still for books! He made us read it again and again to him! My husand was dying of laughter - thought it was terrific! And I don't mean to sound snobby but Chris is a comedy writer and is an alumni from the Groundlings - where all the biggest comedy actors and writers come from - so he's super critical and he sincerely was blown away by it! Anyway, I just had to tell you how much we love it and can't wait to give it to Lucy. I am certain that I will be getting more books from you.

WOW!!! Thank you so much for that custom made book. It's unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. It was thoughtful and amazing. We read it every morning at breakfast. Lucy's favorite part is "no more Braden's jumping on the bed" - she knows a good joke when she hears one!

I was delighted and amazed at the quality and standard of the book for my son, Alex. It is never easy for a child to understand an operation and "Alex the Brave" was better than my wildest imaginings. My now almost three-year-old will have something to show why he has a scar and it will help him to understand what was done to save his life. We just love it so much that we have donated two copies to the cardiac unit at the Prince Charles (soon to be Mater Children's) Hospital staff for their use in explaining to other parents just what the steps are in their child's operation. Personal Child Stories made this experience a little less daunting and frightening through this wonderfully written book which includes an explanation from the American Cardiac web site (www.americanheart.org). We say a heartfelt thanks, and to borrow a popular phrase..."we'll be back!"

I had Personal Child Stories create a book for the little girl I nanny for. I gave it to her as a gift for her third birthday. As she was opening presents she would toss each one aside before quickly grabbing the next one. However, when she opened the present I got her and saw her picture on the cover of the book, she screamed: "Look mom, it's me!" She sat there with a mountain of presents behind her and looked through every single page of the book, commenting and laughing at the pictures. Only after much persuading did she allow her mom to look at it while she opened the rest of the gifts, but she always kept her eye on who had the book! When her mom got the book she started to cry and it was quickly passed along to the room full of moms who all LOVED it. Thanks for making my present a favorite for everyone!

I actually meant to write and tell you how big of a hit the books are. When Madeson opened it at her party one of the ladies starting crying she thought it was such a great book. Madeson really likes it. She tries to carry it around with her. Zander likes his too. He likes it when I read it to him. I ask him who the baby is and he smiles at the picture and then at me. Just wanted to say thanks so much for the indestructible book! My two toddlers rip, peel, and chew on every book they own and I thought I would never be able to find a book that would last. That is at least until I found Personal Child Stories. They’ve had your book for a few months now and it’s still intact… a true miracle in our house! My daughter received the counting book for her Birthday and LOVED looking at the pictures of herself. She kept asking me if she could read the book about her! She also counted all of the pictures of herself and when we got to the end, she said, "Again Mommy!" "More counting!" While working as a classroom aide in a Special Needs classroom during the past ten years, we had a need for books that would help some of our students relate in a much more concrete way with the world outside and at home. We were unsuccessful in finding what we were looking for and decided to make our own books. We felt that one of our students in particular would be helped by such books. With the help of his parents sending in activity photos, we made his personal 'I play baseball book' and 'I love cars' books. The baseball book talked about getting ready for a game, being with friends, and teamwork enjoyment. The book about cars focused on traveling from here to there, various destinations, and types of cars. He absolutely loved the books and read them constantly. Other simpler books were made for some of the other children and in each case they proved to be a good teaching tool.
Children love to see themselves and read about themselves in any situation, and at any level. I am happy to see that Personal Child Stories is making available the option to create these special individualized books – I wish they had been available when we were looking for our students! I will certainly keep them in mind for future use!
