How is Personal Child Stories being GREEN?

Green Toys
Reused household items turned into toys!

We all know that research tells us how important reading and books are as a part of every child’s life. At Personal Child Stories we create each book by hand from start to finish. This actually allows us to maintain complete control over the products we use and what we conserve.

Each book consists of paper, ink, lamination sheets and a coil bind. Every piece of paper is cut after it has been printed, to fit our custom sizing. The excess paper is saved and reused in numerous other ways – for arts and crafts, notes, workshops, etc.

Not all books require that a full sheet of lamination be used for each page. For these books, we precut the lamination in order to save the excess pieces. Those pieces are used in workshops around town when we teach children how to create their own bookmarks – we use the left-over lamination to laminate those bookmarks during the workshops. The kids love to watch the process and walk away with a shiny, laminated bookmark to use at home while reading.

The coils that we use in binding are always longer than needed; they are manufactured that way. Rather than waste what we don’t use, we cut the extra length from each coil and reuse that in other smaller projects, arts and crafts, etc.

Anything we cannot make use of is recycled or reused in one form or another. Nothing is wasted or thrown in the dump.

Personal Child Stories is dedicated to doing our part to conserve and reuse.

Won’t you join us in this effort to be a less wasteful society?
