Frequently Asked Questions

Who does the illustrations in your books?

Although we do have a working relationship with Hollywood artist and cartoonist Jeff West and Fine art specialist Peter Law, our books are typically created using your custom photos. If you would like to add a custom drawing of your child, or a custom cartoon, let us know. This can be done for an additional fee.

Are your books the typical “personalized” ones I see on other websites?

Not at all. Our books are each made upon order, to your specifications. You get to choose the story-line, theme, and send us the photos to go along with the story. We do not create the typical personalized books with your child’s name inserted into a generic story.

Are your books bound?

We create each book upon order. Therefore, ordering from a printing company would be extremely high-priced. Our books are laminated and coil bound. Even if a small child or an infant plays with a book, it will not be destroyed; the lamination makes the books long-lasting, durable, and easy to clean.

What if I am not good about organizing my photos enough to get you what you need?

This is the biggest obstacle facing many of our would-be customers. We can create a book with very few photos (and/or images), although we like to have a variety to choose from in order to create the best book possible. The personal photos are what make these books so special and so loved by the readers!

You can use photos that you have already taken, or you can take new ones, depending on your book theme(s). Simply come up with your book theme and gather up some photos or take new ones to fit that theme (if you need help with this don't hesitate to contact us; we can offer ideas!).

Have fun and don’t worry if the pictures are not perfect! We can always do a little touch-up later on.

If I want a book, but only have a few photos to send, can you fill in any of the pages with other images?

Sure we can! You have a few options here. You can specify that we use clip art, photos from our own public domain stock, or we can special order a custom drawing or cartoon from one of the two artists we work with (Peter Law and Jeff West). You can also substitute photos with other images such as handprints, footprints, a personal letter to the child, a birth certificate, a drawing of theirs, etc. There is no limit to what your imagination can conjure up!

I am surprised that you can sell these books for as little $20 and $30!

We’ve had many people make this statement. To be honest, we make very little on these books. This business was not created to be a huge profit-maker. We love what we do and believe wholeheartedly in the concept that reading increases intelligence and the ability to think critically. It is our desire that every person who would like to have a custom book for a child be able to do so. These books are so special and so unique; every child who gets one (so far, anyway!) loves it, treasures it, and typically deems it their favorite. The books can be passed down from one generation to the next and can contain family history, memories, and special moments and/or thoughts. One little girl we created a book for goes to bed with it each night. We love hearing stories like that and we love knowing that we get to be a small part of bringing joy into the lives of children. Although these books are time-consuming to create, we want each child who could benefit from one to have the opportunity to get one!

Am I limited to the number of books I can create?

Absolutely not. We are not offering generic books with a few limited themes. There is no limit to the number of books you, or anyone else, can think up! A book could be created by a grandmother welcoming her new grandchild and a year later, the parents could have a book created for that same child, explaining the changes that will occur when the next sibling arrives. Book themes can include anything from the minor to the serious: remembering a special family vacation…or explaining the death of a loved one. These books will be treasured by each child, whatever the theme.

I have someone perfect in mind for a book, but I do not have access to their photos. What can I do?

Give a gift certificate, of course! Gift certificates have already proven to be a popular baby shower gift; it’s unique, one-of-a-kind and is always a big hit! You could give a gift certificate for a baby shower, birthday, holiday or even as a teacher gift. Your gift will forever be remembered. Click here to find out more about our gift certificates.

Do your gift certificates expire?

No, they do not. Some people need a little time to think of a book theme, gather up photos or take photos, get them to us, and so on. We fully understand that.

I’d love a book for a child, but am not at all creative. I can’t think of a good theme. Can you help?

Of course. After 16+ years working with kids of all ages, taking a two-year course in writing for kids and teens, having numerous pieces published, and taking various Education classes, it’s not hard to come up with ideas that will work! Just send us a note and we’ll ask a few questions to get the ball rolling. It’s that simple!

If I don't feel comfortable filling out the online form, may I contact you through email to get a book made?

Absolutely! Do whatever you are most comfortable with.
